Below are the detailed requirements for this course:

1. Course Duration and Structure

  • The DUI School consists of eight (8) hours of educational content.

  • It typically includes various instructional methods such as lectures, class discussions, in-class exercises, and video presentations.

2. Completion Timeline

  • Offenders are generally given three to six months to complete the course after their conviction.

  • The exact duration may vary depending on the judge’s orders and the specifics of each case.

3. Format Options

  • Participants can choose between completing the DUI School as an online course or attending in-person classes.

  • Most individuals opt for online courses due to convenience.

4. Additional Programs for High BAC Levels

  • If an offender has a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of 0.18% or higher, they may also be required to attend the Coroner’s DUI Program.

  • This program involves viewing graphic images related to drunk driving fatalities but does not include witnessing actual autopsies.

​

5. Consequences of Non-completion

  • Failing to complete the DUI School by the deadline can lead to further legal repercussions, including potential jail time of up to six months.

  • However, judges may grant extensions if notified in advance about difficulties in completing the course.
